Hunar Haat Delhi: Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Saturday that more than seven lakh artisans and craftsmen have got employment through ‘Hunar Haat’ in the last five years. He said that the government aims to provide employment to a total of 17 lakh people through this initiative in the next two years. The Central Government has started Hunar Haat initiative to promote the traditional crafts, cuisine and culture of India.

Ahead of the conclave to be held in Gujarat on December 12, Naqvi said the initiative has helped craftsmen to reconnect with their traditional, ancestral skills as well as generate employment.

He said, “Through Hunar Haat, more than seven lakh artisans and craftsmen have got employment opportunities in different parts of the country. Our effort is to increase this number to 17 lakh in the next two years.
The Union Minister said that Hunar Haat is a successful and meaningful campaign to provide opportunities to artisans and craftsmen from different parts of the country to preserve and promote their traditional and ancestral heritage.
More than 600 artisans are participating
He told that Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat will inaugurate Hunar Haat in Surat on Sunday. More than 600 artisans, craftsmen from more than 30 states and union territories are participating in this program.
