Delhi Deputy Governor rejects CM Kejriwal’s proposal

In view of the decreasing number of COVID 19 cases in Delhi. Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal had written to the LG, urged restrictions in the Capital to be loosened.

On Friday Delhi Deputy Governor Anil Baijal Denied the Arvind Kejriwal show government’s proposal to smoothen  Covid-19 restrictions and lift weekend curfew in the national capital. However, the Deputy Governor granted to allow private offices to reopen with 50 percent setting.

In an order, DDMA said that Night Curfew is put on daily from 10 PM to 5 AM and Weekend Curfew from 10 PM of Friday till 5 AM of Monday, on the movement of people in NCT of Delhi shall also persist in force till further order.

Even though, weekend curfews and an odd-even system for opening of shops will, remain in place till Covid 19 situation in Delhi improves.

Deputy Governor said in a statement.  “Agreed to 50% attendance in Private offices. But suggested that status quo be maintained with regards to weekend curfew and opening of markets and decision be taken on the subject once the COVID situation improves further,” In view of the declining number of COVID cases in the city, Arvind Kejriwal had earlier written to the LG, asking restrictions in the Capital to be relaxed.

Delhi government had recommended the lifting of weekend curfews – from 10 pm Fridays to 5 am Mondays – in Delhi.  The Delhi government had proposed lifting weekend curfew, ending an odd-even system for the opening of shops, and allowing private offices to run with 50 percent of staff in the city.  

During the weekend curfew, only those involved in required services and those facing an urgent situation could step out, and only with government passes or valid identity cards.
